[Route 29] Accidental Video - Azalea Town

*The video flicks on as Sion's 'gear is sent bouncing across his bed in the local inn, eventually coming to a rest on a crooked view of his backpack.... and what looks like the back half of an eevee sticking out of it*

Eevee vee!

*Said eevee seems very intent indeed on whatever his objective is, which apparently involves scattering Sion's belongings left and right as he digs through the bag.*

Vee veeeee eeVEE!

*And finally, with a shout of triumph, the eevee pulls out something that looks remarkably like one of those boxes of chocolates that appeared back on Valentine's Day. He looks around quickly, ears twitching, then dashes off with his prize, knocking over the 'gear once again and causing it to shut off in the process*

[Varon is laughing at the sprawled out belongings. Yep, he's been there before with his two and still struggles with it.]

Looks like you're havin' some mischief. Careful that he doesn't eat those chockies. It might make 'im sick.

*by the time he replies, he's caught the little troublemaker and is busy trying to wipe the chocolate off the eevee's face and paws with a small towel*

I'm a little surprised he tried. He's never done anything like this before...

How long has be been with ya?

[Both of Varon's eevee now are looking at the screen with curiosity.]

When I got my two, the first day was a mess...well, take that back, first week.

*Jina looks up suddenly, apparently startled by the sound, and hops back to make a valient attempt to borrow his way into Sion's shirt*

He hatched about a month ago, but, ah, he hasn't really been inlcined to make trouble, as you probably can see...

Ah. He seems like he needs some exercise. They like lookin' for things. If you got th' time, I did this with my two, put a treat inside somethin' so he can hunt for it. It's not a good idea t' let 'im just walk about like he owns th' place. He'll test ya.

He's just a babe still. Have ya taken' him out for walks? They like that too. You gotta be active with 'em.

*puts one arm around the eevee, idly stroking his head with the other. Jina seems to relax visibly at this*

Taking him out isn't really the problem, just that he's rather, ah, skittish around anything he hasn't had time to get used to. That's why it's surprising that he'd make such a mess.

Oh. See I didn't know that. Usually eevee are pretty vibrant an' outgoin'. That's definitely a shocker.

[He looks like he's thinking and looks to Zipper.]

Maybe he's now gettin' used to ya. What's his name?

Well, I suppose his father's certainly lively enough, from what I've seen...

*thoughtfully manages to wipe the rest of the chocolate off Jina's face, which the eevee squeaks at, before tentatively peeking over Sion's arm to look at the device, since it's clearly not actually doing anything other than making noise...*

Ah, and his name's Jina.

Huh.

[He softly chuckles at the sounds Jina is making.]

Have ya tried some games? They're pretty high energy.

[Varon's eyes looked to Jina and nods.]

Oy, now, you shouldn't be so vocal. He's only tryin' t' help.

As long as I can find a way to keep him interested, I suppose. Perhaps if I could find something he likes as much as he apparently does that chocolate...

*Jina glances up with a curious "vee?" then looks over at the 'gear again, though still not yet leaving the relative safety behind Sion's arm*

Careful with that though. Too much could make 'im fat or make 'im sick. You could try a good trail mix with honey if he's got a sweet tooth.

[Adam and Zipper are rolling a ball between them, mirroring each other as they go along.]

Oh, I'd make sure he worked hard enough to earn it first, of course.

*Jina is just eying the 'gear with increasing curiously. he's never actually seen other eevee before, since his dad's an umbreon....*

[Varon fishes in his bag and takes out the treats for his two eevee.]

Heads up!

Eeeveee!

EEEEEVEEEEE!

[Adam bats the ball back and Zipper does the same. Varon turns and tosses them both dried fruit covered in honey and granola and the two chirp gleefully as they jump to catch the treats in an acrobatic display that looks almost choreographed, one crossing the other.]

Good job, guys!

[He turns his attention back to the screen.]

Chocolate even as a treat can cause bad habits. I got Adam from a friend and she worried that she wasn't givin' 'im enough attention. They require a lot of it. They like bein' involved.

*....yeah okay Jina's ears perk up a bit, seeing that, though he's still not quite ready to leave his safe spot yet*

Well, that is why I was thinking of finding something else. At the very least, something less prone to melting and making a mess...

[The two eevee in the back have their treats in their paws and are nibbling away at the granola crust.

Varon pulls one out from his pouch and shows it on the screen.]

It's really a dried apricorn covered in honey with a granola crisp shell. It's not very messy at all and they last a while.

[The nugget itself is about the size of a large marble.]

You can use anything t' make it such as any nut, dried fruit and it's even good for people. I don't suggest eatin' the apricorn yourself. Those aren't good for people. The Pokémon can have them just fine.

That and they keep for a while. Really good for the long trips.

[Yep, he's a health nut. He looks to Jina and smiles.]

Ya think you'd like this, Jina?

Ah, I see...

*"Vee?" Jina perks up even more at hearing his name, and takes a cautious step or two toward the screen. Sion continues to gently stroke the eevee, encouraging and reassuring him, as Jina takes a closer look.

....unfortunately, the 'gear can only transmit sights and sounds, not smells and tastes, so in the end Jina just cocks his head, a little confused*

[Varon suddenly felt like a heel for not taking into consideration the age of Jina and the advantages of the technology and winces.]

I think Sion can make some for ya. It's worth a try.

[He looks back up at Sion.]

It's really easy an' ya don't have t' cook it. Give that a go an' see how it works. I'll send ya the recipe for it.

[Zipper is the one that comes toward the screen and peeks at the new eevee with a chirp. Granola is stuck to her whiskers. She plucks the granola covered piece from Varon's hand and runs off.]

O-oy! That's not...ah.

[He looks over his shoulder and sees that she's sharing it with Adam.]

Looks like he inherited a tendency to go through people's stuff without permission from his dad.

[he says while petting a certain Umbreon]

*nods*

I'll keep that in mind.

*Jina is still unsure what to think of the screen and the people and pokemon on the other side of it, so clearly the solution is to tentatively tap it with his paw and see if anything happens....*

*well, now that the wayward eevee has been cornered and removed from the chocolate, Sion is now attempting to remove the chocolate from the eevee with a small towel*

I'd certainly hope he doesn't make it a habit...

Wonder why he went after the chocolate, of all things.

[Varon looks back at the screen and smiles at Jina. Slowly, he reaches to touch the screen with his fingertips to gauge reaction.]

It's a'right.

*"vee?" Jina crouches, watching carefully, then reaches out to tap the screen again*

I couldn't say. He's always enthusiastic about food, but not quite that much...

Yeah, that's right.

[Varon's smile stays, acclimating Jina to the screen and getting him used to things and how they're not going to cause him harm.]

See? It's fine, Jina. It's not gonna hurt ya.

[Zipper and Adam peek up over Varon's shoulders to to look at the new eevee without making a sound.]
