[Route 29] Video/Action - Olivine City

*the feed comes on today to show Sion looking, well, not exactly disheveled, but what can be seen of his hair and clothing isn't quite in the near-perfect order it usually is, more like a hastily-done job of straightening things out after being out on an especially windy day. Despite this, however, his smile seems even brighter than usual....*

I must admit, I was rather skeptical of the idea being able to ride a flying bird- even a giant one- at all, let alone long distances, but it seems this place is rather full of surprises. And rather worth the effort to obtain the ability to do so, I might add, considering the travel time it saves.

I don't suppose the rewards of challenging the other gyms are nearly as useful?

You're definitely right about that.

[He's sort of half brushing, half rubbing Gail's back at the moment. The Noctowl, meanwhile, is rather pleased with himself for successfully carrying Ryner across the sea (and equally pleased with Ryner, because, well, it's about time).]

So it would seem that visiting the gyms was worthwhile, after all.

A couple of them, anyway.

At least now it should only be a matter of a day or two to get between cities, in any case.

Yeah. As long as Gail, Lori, and Lofty are up to it, anyway.

Ah, do you find it to be enjoyable? [ She asks as though she hasn't done it herself. It's true though; while she does have a couple of Pokemon that can use Fly, she hasn't earned it herself. ] Flying through the air, is it not exhilarating in a sense?

It's quite unlike anything else, certainly.

I imagine they would take offense were you to imply they weren't.

Still don't want to force them to do something they don't want to, though.

Somehow I doubt forcing your partners to do something they didn't want is the last thing you would need to worry about...

Yeah, Fly's pretty much the most useful thing you can get from a gym. The other stuff like Rock Smash and Strength and Cut is mostly for traveling on foot. Total waste of time.

But in the games, you could only Fly to places you'd been before — like that makes any sense — so you needed the other HMs to get around until you'd been everywhere.

Oh? I always thought you had the opposite problem.

The latter, really. The only thing I can think of that comes remotely close would be riding a swift horse, but it still isn't quite the same...

You have to defeat the leader of the gym in Cianwood City.

Once you've obtained the means to teach them the right technique, yes.

And how do you do that!?

You have to challenge and defeat the leader of the gym in Cianwood City. Ah, of course, to be able to use it you'll also need to have defeated the leader in Violet City, too, though.

Violet City... I think I'm near there. I still think I'm too new to this to be fighting gym leaders, though.

Oh? Did you only arrive recently, then?

A little less than two weeks ago. I've been having a lot of fun.
