*it's been a day of off an on drizzly rain throughout Johto today, and on the evening of this chilly wet day a post appears on the network from Sion. Unusual for him, it's in text. Even more unusual (not that, in theory, anyone but Sion knows), he's actually set up a filter to prevent his best friend from seeing it....*

Such melancholy weather as this leads to melancholy thoughts. If there are any who care to indulge my morbid curiosity, I wonder if there's anyone who's done something out of necessity that they've regretted. Or perhaps plans to do? What is it like to live with such a decision?

People will be hurt regardless.
A restraint of action does not hurt any less.
Choosing to do nothing is just as bad as acting in most situations.
When you refuse to take action, it creates doubt in your ability to lead.

I am aware of the need to appear decisive and strong in front of those who would follow me. But that does not mean I am truly without doubts.

How am I to know if I truly have made the right choice? To weigh the needs of many against that of a few is one matter, but what of other matters. For example, if you could spare someone a terrible fate, would you not wish to do so? However, what if to do so required causing them great harm?

You cannot spare someone from something that is their fate.
That is what it means for it to be their fate.

I disagree, however I was speaking in more general terms. One might cut off a man's infected limb to spare him from dying of it, but is it better to allow a mortally wounded man to die slowly and in agony or to spare him such pain be taking his life quickly?
