[Route 29] Video/Action - Ecruteak City

While I realize that the mystery of the so-called 'bloobers' is probably foremost in peoples' minds at the moment, but I thought it might be interesting to consider something else for a while. Namely, just what sort of worlds does everyone come from? Do they have technology and devices similar to this one, or something different altogether? What about things such as magic? Are there many countries, or just a few? And so on.

Share as much or as little as you'd like; I for one would be curious to hear it.

No. They were around before I was even born. All I know is that humanity retreated behind them about a hundred years ago.

I haven't either - not here, anyway. But it is one of the reasons that waking up here almost two years ago didn't really bother me. It's happened before.

It really is. At the same time it's nice to get away from it all.

[Well, not... quite true, since demons??? Joker isn't sure about the whole thing, he was a bit in the process of having a mental breakdown and dying. Still, he won't mention it. Doesn't make sense to him anyway.]

Yer guess is as good as mine. 'Fraid I ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes ta things like this.

Just a ringleader for a circus! I'm more the entertainer than a scholar sort.

Our world doesn't have magic or anything, so 'luck' is a trivial and dumb thing to measure talent by.

[All she knows is there's two SHSL Good Lucks and one of them is fucking creepy...] We keep our talents when we get shoved into this place, too. So, I'm still the best.

[Be impressed dammit]

Oh, yes, we're constantly busy in the Spirit World, so much paperwork to process and schedules to keep. But we do our best! And there hasn't been an error in the system since a few years ago. [And that error was Yusuke committing the stupid act of saving someone that wasn't going to be harmed anyway at the cost of his own life. Very unexpected, very ahead of his schedule.]

[ Ooh, now this is something to wrap his brain around. Because really, ]

I guess it was kind of called magic at some point...

[ It just sounds so odd to think of it all as magic... but he'll mull that over some other time. For now, there's the rest of the question. ]

The world I come from is kind of like this one... except we don't have Pokemon running around. There's things like the Pokegear, too. We call them cellphones. But I'm a little curious... how different is this world from yours?

[Marcia gives a nod at the question, not feeling the need to elaborate. Instead, she listens to the explanation. Honestly, it's really ridiculous. So a new species was discovered, it hardly seems like the kind of thing to go crazy over.

Especially when it seems disgusting.]

Honestly, could they not come up with something better to call it? I can't see a reason for anyone to have caught one, they sound vile.

[Marcia shakes her head irritably.]

Anyway. You had questions and I would much rather talk about where I come from than... bloobers. First things first, there is absolutely nothing like this where I'm from. The primary form of communication is mail. Message rats are popular, if a little expensive.

And annoying.

Yup! You'd be surprised how often that happens.

[Of course it was, Marcia thinks to herself. The dumbest things tend to gain popularity rather than something sensible. That seems to be the way here just as back home.]

Ah, yes. They can speak. [She realizes she ought to elaborate, so she lets out a small sigh.] They are magykal, I should probably clarify that now. All you must do is utter a simple spell; "Speeke, Rattus Rattus".

Then they are free to relate their message to you. Afterwards, you either dismiss them or send a message back to the sender. Not the quickest form of communication, but it gets the job done.

Most, out of decency, won't give it to anyone but the recipient, though they could if they wanted to. However, there are a special brand of message rat which are confidential. If it's a confidential message rat, then they will give it only to the recipient- and they're a lot more expensive for it.
