[Route 29] Video/Action - Ecruteak City

While I realize that the mystery of the so-called 'bloobers' is probably foremost in peoples' minds at the moment, but I thought it might be interesting to consider something else for a while. Namely, just what sort of worlds does everyone come from? Do they have technology and devices similar to this one, or something different altogether? What about things such as magic? Are there many countries, or just a few? And so on.

Share as much or as little as you'd like; I for one would be curious to hear it.

[OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY TIME TO BRAG]

On the technology side, my world was pretty close to this... except we had a highly prestigious school that everyone in the educated world knew about! You could only be scouted and handpicked to enroll, which required specialists determining that you were not only the best of the best in a particular field, your talent in that field was good enough to match up to the rest.

Everyone who went to that school got the title of SHSL. [OHOHOHOHO] That means 'Super High School Level', a name for everyone to know you're the top in something. I'm SHSL Classical Japanese Dancer.

Obviously! Unless, of course, they somehow find someone better than the previous- that would be pretty pathetic, though. To be revered as the best and realize you actually weren't?

[Teehee, it would be fun to watch the breakdown.] Of course, the wearing sands of time break down even the best... there is SHSL Good Luck, though! One for every year. But it's a stupid, gimmicky and cheap title.

Isn't the title obvious enough? They get enrolled into the school through a lottery! While the rest of us have to work day and night our whole lives to earn ours!

Ah, I see. So the "skill" they are best in would be "luck"...

Our world doesn't have magic or anything, so 'luck' is a trivial and dumb thing to measure talent by.

[All she knows is there's two SHSL Good Lucks and one of them is fucking creepy...] We keep our talents when we get shoved into this place, too. So, I'm still the best.

Perhaps, but isn't the entire point of the concept of "luck" that it's something that cannot be artificially controlled in the first place?

Ah, so that would mean that they're skills within the range of unaided or augment human capability, in that case?

Seems so. Though, if it can't be controlled, I don't know why the school would try to study or control it. The other talents are much more tangible.

I suppose they could be attempting to study it by means of using it in that manner and seeing what happens... Or, perhaps, it's simply a publicity stunt.
