[Route 29] Action/Video - just south of Violet City
*To say that Sion was rather puzzled by the practice of catching animals in little balls and having them battle each other would be to put it mildly. It seemed ridiculous at best, and possibly cruel at worst. Nonetheless, it was a commonly accepted practice here in Johto, one that both the humans who cared dearly about them and the pokémon themselves seemed to generally be perfectly fine with, and even encouraged.
It was odd, to say the least. But finally, Sion's curiosity had gotten the better of him, and he'd found himself wandering out just south of Violet City to see what he might find there. It wasn't long before his curiosity was rewarded, as the grass rustled and parted to reveal a wild pokémon ready and raring for a battle. Covered in fluffy white fleece, and with an orb at the end of its tail; Mareep, Sion recalled this type was called.
Of course, it was a small challenge for the well-trained Dusk, who quickly weakened the wild pokémon, then stepped back and waited for Sion to decide his next move. Sion hesitated, his fingers curled around one of the empty red and white balls that had been in the bag he'd found waiting next to him when he'd awakened. He hesitated, then sighed inwardly. If he didn't do this, his curiosity would continue to gnaw at him for ages, and with as unpredictable as his first week here was, who knows when he'd be sure to have another good chance to take his time and experiment again. And besides, if things didn't work out, he could always release the pokémon back into the wild, no really worse for the wear.
Sion threw the ball.
It sprung open in midair, a burst of light enveloping the Mareep and then vanishing into the ball, which closed again and fell to the ground. It shook once, twice, three times, then stopped moving with a soft clicked. Sion let out the breath he hadn't realized he was holding, blinked, and walked over to pick it up.*
...All right, come on out.
Maaaaareeep!
*The Mareep bleated, still weak from its recent battle, and Sion crouched down to use a potion to restore it. Yet another thing that he had no idea why it worked, but it did work, and that was all that mattered for now.*
Though I suppose, normally you'd just have to wait and recover on your own, after picking a fight like that... Well, in any case, you're free to go now if you want. Or stay, if that's what you'd like...
Reep? Mareep!
*It looked at Sion quizzically, then abruptly turned and gently headbutted him, before sitting down purposefully on his lap.*
Maaareep!
...Well, I suppose that answers that question...
*Sion smiled wryly to himself and wondered just what he'd gotten himself into...*
Snivy sni~ ♫ Snivyyyy~ ♪
*the 'gear flicks on to a shaky, blurry image of scenery; evidently Sion's Snivy has gotten ahold of it somehow. after a moment or two it stops moving, in time to catch an image of Sion sitting in the snowy grass, apparently talking to the Mareep seated primly just in front of him*
I suppose you'll need a name, then...
*Sion muses, then winces when a stray spark from the Mareep's wool shocks his finger when he reaches out to it*
...well, I suppose something like Sparky would be appropriate...
Maaa mareep!
*the Mareep in question shakes himself sassily, causing Sion to draw back to avoid getting shocked again*
Maybe Cheeky would be more like it...
....Sni? Snivy!
*suddenly the 'gear falls to the ground, catching a glimpse of the Snivy trotting off toward the Absol resting nearby before it switches off upon impact*
