[Route 29] Video/Action - Blackthorn City (Dragon's Den)
Even Sion had to admit that the past couple of days had been pretty miserable. Oh, it was still well within the bounds of tolerance, at least by his standards, but miserable nonetheless. Of course, having seen the news (TVs really were remarkable devices, he still thought even now) he already had an idea what to expect from the moment he and Ryner first started exhibiting the symptoms, but either he'd underestimated how bad it would be, or they'd been hit with a worse case than usual, rendering them both nearly bedridden for the last couple days. And to top it off, as though being ill weren't bad enough, he could feel the gradual but steady changes it had been making to his body in the process, a sensation that was made no more pleasant by its familiarity.
Sion sighed and rubbed his eyes as he sat up, feeling the smooth edges of the ridge that curved back into a pair of crest-like horns. He would probably have to do something about that eventually, most certainly before he got back to Roland, but for now it could remain a secondary concern. Instead he forced back the lingering tiredness and the last traces of illness and stood, glancing around the room as he dressed. Ryner slept on; for once, Sion was disinclined to wake him, knowing he probably needed the extra sleep for once. Dusk was watching them intently, with the poise that meant the absol was unsure whether a potential concern was worth the hassle of convincing Sion to listen to her. Sion smiled wryly at that; it was probably to be expected, but he felt well enough now, and didn't relish the idea of sitting around the stuffy inn room any longer than necessary. In fact.... Perhaps he could take his team for another quick session at the Dragon's Den, he mused. The cool cavern certainly seemed an appealing idea right now, and it wouldn't be much use patrolling the city by himself right now with Ryner asleep anyway.
So that was decided. He paused to collect the pokéballs he'd need for his team- Dusk, of course, and Jina, as the glaceon was a natural choice against a cave full of dragon-types. In fact, Sion doubted said glaceon would let him leave without him today, with the way he'd been refusing to leave Sion's side almost from the moment he'd woken up. Sion chuckled softly at that as he stroked the glaceon's fur. Was it just him, or was Jina particularly easy to read today...? No matter, he thought, as he continued on to gather up most the rest of his usual team.
When he came to Fio the arcanine, however, he hesitated. For some reason, even just thinking about the fire-type made him feel almost uncomfortably warm. Sion grimaced a little at that thought. Either he was still more ill than he thought, or this mysterious disease had even more annoying side effects than he'd reckoned on. He could fight his way through it, of course, he'd dealt with worse before, but even so...
Sion glanced at Ryner where his friend still slept on. He knew Ryner's own pokémon would keep close watch over him, but a little extra couldn't hurt, could it?
"...Fio, keep an eye on Ryner for when he wakes up," Sion said, softly enough so as not to wake Ryner. The arcanine woofed a quiet assent, and stood to cross the small room over to the side with Ryner's bed. Sion found himself hurriedly stepping out of the way and stifling a small gasp as Fio passed too close, and the arcanine for his part kept giving him and his behavior odd looks. Clearly the sooner he got out of here for a while the better, Sion thought as he finally moved toward the door, and fervently hoped that these last vestiges of the illness would be out of his system soon. The last thing he needed was to be rendered overly sensitive to heat at the height of summer, after all...
He paused at the door to glance back, Dusk and Jina at his heels, the others in their balls, then quietly shut the door and went on his way. He could spend some time thinking about how to deal with this while he searched for dragons to battle.
*The feed blinks on to blur of shapes and colors flowing past, which after a moment or two resolve themselves into the backdrop of the entire of a cavern of some sort, zooming past as the 'gear flies one way and then another. A few more moments, and the flashes of color and occasional cry of a pokémon explains just what's going on- it seems a serperior, ampharos, and dratini are playing a game of "whack the 'gear back and forth with your tail". This continues for a good minute or two, the participants obviously unaware or uncaring that they're being recorded, showing enough of the cave that the astute observer may identify it as the Dragon's Den by Blackthorn City, and also revealing a slightly agitated-looking absol pacing and glancing about a short distance away. Finally, though, there's a sudden urgent-sounding "Ser! Perior!" followed by an affirmative "Amph!", and the 'gear abruptly stops its journey and is set on the ground, giving a view down the cavern from behind the ampharos's legs.
Almost immediately, a rather satisfied-looking glaceon trots into view, with Sion following immediately behind it. Sion's now sporting an almost crystalline-looking pair of horns sweeping back from his forehead like a crest, a side effect compliments of the recent mysterious outbreak, and the awkward fit of his clothes in a few places suggests there's more similar mutations unseen. He pauses as he catches sight of the quartet of pokémon, eyes quickly taking in the situation*
Fen...
*Sion frowns in the direction of the ampharos and the half-hidden 'gear, but before he can speak again the absol suddenly leaps forward with a cry*
Dusk? What...?
*his words are lost however as with a roar a large dragon comes crashing through a boulder to the side of the path, plainly on the attack. More startling, however, is that it's apparently ignoring the various gathered pokémon, instead swinging its outstretched claws straight at Sion, whose eyes go wide in surprise even as his own pokémon dash forward to try to intercept, sending the now-forgotten 'gear tumbling.
The last the camera catches is the sound of roars and shouts, and a flash of light followed by everything going an icy white before the feed finally cuts out*
((All network replies will be ICly delayed by a half-hour to an hour or so.))

[briefly video... also 1/2]
[So Rose saw Sion's message and got worried enough to wake up her dear partner, who after seeing this message is now ever-so-slightly panicking.
And sparking. Definitely sparking fairly dangerous levels of electricity, there.
...In sufficient quantities that it subsequently shorts out his 'gear shortly after he starts this response, the video cutting briefly to static before nothing. Hooray for accidentally breaking the network device thingie?]
[Action about fifteen to twenty minutes later]
[You'll probably hear the yelling first, soon followed by the footprints of two quadrupedal pokémon running into the Dragon's Den from the entrance.
Either way, the sound definitely precedes Ryner, riding Fio, eventually turning whatever corner brings him into eye-shot of this scene. Following close behind is Jehra, being ridden by Rose. ...Oh, and Glen has firmly (and seemingly quite contently) clamped his little jaws onto Ryner's shoulder and isn't going to be letting go any time soon, but I'm sure that's nothing important...]
Action
Ah, Ryner...
Action
Either way, Ryner dismounts Fio and immediately runs over to Sion, grabbing him by the shirt collar.]
What the hell were you thinking?!?
[Aside from the stripes on his face (and he'd have mentioned the ones on his chest as well by now), more-untameable-than-even-usual hair (complete with a streak of blond down the side), and red, blood-shot eyes (currently hidden behind sunglasses), turns out he might have ended up more energetic than usual, too. Energetic, jumpy..]
Re: Action
I thought I'd take a little time to train while you were still recovering; I'd already spent more than enough time in that room lately...
Action
[...Ryner, seriously, speak more slowly...]
Re: Action
*and reports of wild pokemon attacking trainers hadn't shown up on the network yet when he left....*

Re: Action
Action
[Glen perks a little, slightly overwhelmed as Ryner starts sparking a bit despite the Joltik nomming away at him. You might feel a slight shock, no more than a tiny bit of static discharge but still there, where he's still grabbing your shirt...
...Yeah he. Might need some help calming down. ._.]
Re: Action
*using his best authoritative voice here, yep. and trying to ignore the tempting impulse to battle that the sight of those sparks stirred...*
Action
He's still pissed off, but he knows you're right. Need to calm down, keep things civil and contained.]
Re: Action
*at this he's interrupted by a low grumble and a warning "sol!" as the half-frozen druddigon begins to stir again...*

video;
Sion? Sion? Please answer! [ Says the girl who's got a chest covered in scales up towards her neck and fangs. ]
Re: video;
...it's all right, I'm fine.
*and indeed, while one of the prominent horns on his head appears to have been broken, he looks unharmed otherwise*
video;
That is a relief. [ Calmly spoken. ] Might I ask as to where you were exactly?
Re: video;
I was training in the Dragon's Den north of Blackthorn City. *a pause, then adds:* As I had been for several days without incident prior to that illness sweeping through the area.
*clearly someone doesn't want another lecture...*
video;
Please, if you do not mind that is.
[ Because she has a small interest in dragonkin. ]
Re: video;
*is acting like it doesn't particularly bother him, though in reality he's pretty self-conscious about it*
But the Dragon's Den is just what the name implies- a cavern north of the city inhabited by a variety of dragon-types. Unsurprisingly, the local gym here features them prominently.
video;
Truly? [ Humming to herself. ] I will have to make my way there at some later date.
Re: video;
Indeed. I've managed to catch one, myself.
*well, technically two, but the druddigon doesn't count until he's sorted matters out later...*
video;
Hoh? You have a dragon Pokemon yourself? Which one, if you do not mind me asking.
Re: video;
The one I caught earlier is called a bagon, though I also have a dratini from an egg I received some weeks ago.
