*so you know what's frustrating? Having your 'gear be acting up when you're trying to contact someone.

You know what's even MORE frustrating? Trying to use a feature you've never used before to try to somehow cram a short message into a small space. Still, he manages in the end, albeit with a much shorter message than he originally started with:*



*...of course, he's of the opinion that his penmanship on the 'gear is atrocious and that even a brief note to a friend shouldn't sound quite to terse, but he is so done with trying to mess with it.

I don't know if you're aware, but Ryner and I have been doing a fair amount of research into the so-called "legendary" pokemon...

The legendary Pokemon? There are a number of tales associated with them and they all vary from area to area just about, though I suspect that is the natural order of things. Add in the fact a number of us are not native to this world and we have our own theories...

Ah, it wasn't rude at all. But in any case, we decided to look into some stories we'd heard about Lugia being known to frequent the Whirl Islands.

*takes out a small box, placing it on the table as he speaks*

And while we were unable to catch a glimpse of it ourselves...

*removes the cover from the box, revealing a beautiful silver feather nestled inside*

We did manage to find proof that it at least had been there.

Ah, it is lovely. [ Not quite as majestic as a lion, but that kind of feather isn't ordinarily seen. ]

You are sure without a doubt that it belongs to this Pokemon? How impressive...

There are no other known species with this particular color of feather. Not to mention it matches the description of the local rumors.

It isn't much, but it's at least proof that such pokemon do indeed spend time in places accessible to humans, at least on occasion.

Huh--but is it alright to keep such knowledge a secret? Finding a legendary Pokemon may be the key to returning to our proper worlds.

Well, but I've just told you, haven't I? We won't be telling it to just everyone, but I do plan to gradually inform those I have reason to trust. If we rush things and the information falls into the wrong hands, it would be an even greater setback, after all.

It would, but how do you determine who is trust worthy? Do you have a system in mind or will you just follow your instinct?

There are a number of factors I'd consider. My personal interactions as well as any other observations I've made, to begin with. Considering what sort of motives a person might have to obtain such information and what sort of benefits they might potentially obtain depending on what they did with it. And if necessary, what sort of leverage exists to ensure a person's cooperation. After all, if it would benefit them more to keep confidence with me than betray it, or similar such incentive, then that can be a factor in their trustworthiness.

It's little different from dealing with matters involving the various nobility and their factions, in a way.

There are those who are impulsive, yet have good in their heart. Who knows how one will react when power is dangled before them? A good man can turn wicked with strength.

Those possibilities are certainly things I'd take into consideration.

Though to be quite frank, in this case, I would be willing to accept a degree of risk to learn who is truly trustworthy or not. I don't intend to carry and parade this around everywhere, and I'm certain eventually word will likely spread that it's in my and Ryner's possession, anyway. I prefer to keep it under wraps for as long as possible, but if or when information does get out...

Then I will have further confirmation of whom I can and cannot potentially trust with more important matters.

Not even over this device. The PokeGear is an useful tool, but one that is often overlooked when it comes to security. It was wise for us to meet up to discuss it.

Well, in a situation like that, of course. But the same is true of any correspondence, and merely returns to the question of whether the recipient is trustworthy.
