*Hello, Route, have a certain silver-haired king with an almost uncharacteristically bewildered expression on his face*

Now, I realize that there's a number of Pokemon which can evolve in more than one various ways, such as how Eevee can become one of seven different ones, but...

*he turns the camera, panning past a Ninjask that's sitting quietly in the grass nearby to zoom in on a Shedinja*

...But is it normal for one to evolve into two separate ones at once?

Nincada can do that?

Apparently so, though I'm still not entirely sure how it works...

More like it left a shell that somehow became a separate pokemon entirely, I believe.

Ah, a while ago there were a lot of them around. Never knew where they came from, but now I do.

Uh, yeah...Nincada's kind of a special case.

The pokegear says it's part ghost type, which I suppose explains things a little, but even so...

I see... Still, it's rather strange.

So I'm noticing...

I guess Shedinja's supposed to be the shell come back to life. But I'd be careful around it if I were you.

[He knows he's gonna have to explain, but he's trying to put that part off, sob.]

What happened before it split into two? Or did that happen when it evolved?

[flinching slightly at the view of the Shedinja, but he clears his throat quickly and nods]

Normal for that one, but not normal for Pokemon overall.

It was when it evolved. Ninjask is its evolved form, but... apparently the shell it left behind is also a pokemon, somehow.

So it appears. Though where the ghost even came from in the first place, I've no idea.

That's what I'd gathered from the description... And, well, it is part ghost type, after all.

Ahh, that time there were a lot of them around, they were weird ones that sucked out the souls of whoever looked in their backs or something. But that professor said that isn't natural, so yours should be fine. Anyway, it was a while ago.

It's definitely one of the creepier ghost types, that's for sure. But yeah, it's kinda weird how only Nincada does that. You'd think it could be possible for the other bug types too.

[some of us have lingering Shedinja trauma :( at any rate, he doesn't react to it anymore than that]
